Australian Volunteer Supporting NAFICOT

NAFICOT is pleased to welcome Australian Volunteer Andrew Boyle, who will be working with the organisation for three months through the Australian Volunteers Program. During his placement, Andrew will support improvements to facilities, marketing, strategic planning and donor engagement, while helping strengthen systems that support NAFICOT's long-term sustainability. The placement will also assist with developing new opportunities for fisheries value addition, strengthening partnerships and showcasing the important role NAFICOT plays in supporting local fishers, food security and economic development in Tuvalu.

Fish Guides Visit NAFICOT

NAFICOT was proud to support a recent pilot project funded by the Australian Government through DFAT to explore the potential for a sport fly-fishing industry in Tuvalu.

Two experienced fishing guides from Australia spent a week fishing with the NAFICOT team, who shared their local knowledge and showed them some of the best fishing locations across Funafuti Lagoon.

The project explored the potential for sustainable fishing tourism to create new opportunities for Tuvalu’s people and economy.

NAFICOT is grateful to Kel from DFAT and Fish guides Justin and Kevin and is looking forward to working with them soon.
